Chantel K Watts was born in a small town in Colorado but grew up in the rough streets of NYC. Moving through three boroughs and six schools throughout her childhood, she developed a passion for writing short stories, prose, spoken word and poetry about her surroundings, and often enough making new worlds with captivating characters based on her own friends and loved ones. At sixteen, she became a published poet on an online teen poetry website, won a poetry contest about the dangers of smoking- and at twenty-two, Chantel published a daring chapbook about her abuse and mental illness. Currently, she is pursuing a bachelors degree in Black Studies with hopes of opening a publishing house for black indie authors to bring back reading and writing as a favorable profession for African American voices, as well as become a motivational speaker. In her free time, she does amateur photography, constructs philanthropy projects and enjoys watching documentaries on various topics.
